Ice Breaker

So when you're in school, on the first day they make you do these things called "ice breakers" so that everyone in the class can feighn interest in everyone else's lives, and in general so you can get to know one another. I'm not gonna do that. However, I figured that since I'm new to this I would write a little intro paragraph about myself, so I can prove my credentials to everyone.

When I was 10 or 11, I caught a special on VH1 about KISS. There I saw Ace Frehley shooting rockets out of his guitar and it was all over, I knew what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. within a month I convinced my Dad to buy me a guitar and sign me up for lessons. for almost 10 years I took guitar lessons from one of the kookiest, most loveable guys in the louisville, KY area, Alan Phelps. During that time, I became obsessed, like so many other Metal fans, with not only the music, but all aspects of Rock and Roll and Heavy Metal culture. When anyone was curious about who wrote a certain song in a band, or why a band broke up, or what album came out when, it was always "Let's ask Corey". Through ought high school, if someone referenced me, another person would always say, "You mean Metal Corey?" I didn't seek out that title, friends and family bestowed it on me.

Although it's a very prominent part of my life, Metal isn't the only thing that I'm passionate about. As I was becoming a teenager, I started getting into horror movies heavily, mostly out of hanging out with my best friend Kenneth. I remember there was one summer that Kenneth and I spent just working our way through our local video store's horror section. every week we would go to what was called Video Vault at the time, and his mom would let him rent 3 or 4 movies and my mom would let me rent 3 or 4 movies. we must have watched close to 200 horror films that summer alone. Anyway, that gave me an appreciation for cheesy, low-budget horror films in particular, which I still love. I still make it my mission to go and see as many horror movies as I can, remake or original, low budget or not, I try and see 'em without being biased. I also frequent several horror conventions in the Kentucky/Ohio area.

So that's a little bit about me. Hopefully I'll have some real stuff to write about soon, and try to remember, I'm not trying to make a living doing this, i'm just doing it for fun, so constructive criticism is welcome, but please save comments like "you suck" for someone else.
